iPhone guide

Hosts and SSH keys

Save servers, store passwords and private keys in the Keychain, and lock the app.

Everything you save in Warpeer stays on your iPhone. Open the Vaults tab to manage it.

Hosts

A host is a saved server: a name, an address, a port and a username, plus the credential to sign in with. Saved hosts appear on the Hosts tab. Once you have more than one, a search field helps you find them. Use Manage on the Hosts heading to edit hosts or select several to delete.

Keychain credentials

A credential is a username with either a password or a private key. To add one, open Vaults, choose Keychains and tap Add Keychain.

  • Password: type the password once and reuse it on any host.
  • Private Key: paste an OpenSSH private key (the text that begins with -----BEGIN OPENSSH PRIVATE KEY-----). Ed25519 and RSA keys are supported. Add the passphrase if the key has one, and optionally the public key for reference.

Credentials are encrypted and stored in the iOS Keychain. When you edit a credential later, leave the private key empty to keep the stored value.

Remember to add the matching public key to ~/.ssh/authorized_keys on each server.

Known hosts

Known Hosts lists every server fingerprint you have trusted. Search by host or fingerprint. Delete an entry when a server is rebuilt so that Warpeer asks you to verify its new key.

Snippets

Snippets are saved commands. Insert or run them from a snippet key on the terminal keyboard, described in Magic keys and snippets.

Connection logs

Logs keeps a short history of connection attempts, with the error detail when one failed. It is the first place to look when a host will not connect.

App Lock

Turn on App Lock in Settings to require a 4 to 12 digit PIN, or Face ID or Touch ID, when Warpeer opens. The PIN verifier is stored only on this device. With App Lock on, Blur in App Switcher also hides your terminals in the app switcher.
